I want a 5" 1911 with rail of pretty good quality. I have a TLE / RL II in 4" that I have had good luck with, but Im not sure I want another kimber given all the horror stories. I cant afford more than 1200-1400$.

I have a Warrior and Love it, the Sprindfield MC Operator is just as fine IMHO. Get which ever one you can get the best deal on.

$950

I picked up a MC Operator for $889 ($929 shipped).  It's a wonderful pistol.

The Warrior comes without the series II safety, I think.  Due to their use of match barrels, the Kimbers may be a smidge more accurate than the Springfields (which also have an occasional problem with shooting low).

I have no real preference either way, however... I'd suggest going with whatever you can get the best deal on.

No brainer - Desert Warrior - cause you don't want to look like a little bitch at the range shooting one of those other cereal box pistols.

Because having "Warrior" emblazoned on the slide isn't "cereal box"

Go with the Springfield.

+1 for springfield, and I haven't seen/played with one yet but the champion operator sounds kick ass. But since you want a 5" the light wieght or the TRP armory kote if  you have the extra cash.

The warrior would be a close second because it has match parts already in it for the instant gratification guys like me.

The Warrior has no firing pin safety.  The Warrior and the SA operator are the best options for the buck IMO.

There is no extra safeties in this pic.  As you can see I went with the warrior and could not be happier.
