looking to buy my first 1911.

These are the two 1911's I am considering. Mainly from the catalogs, I like the way
they look.

This will not be a carry gun, I want a target gun that looks good and shoots accurately.

Is one more accurate than the other, based on Parts and materials they are made with?

Is there any drawback to the Kimber Aluminum Frame?

I see threads about Kimbers rusting?? Probably not taking care of them, right?

Any experience or thoughts welcome. I don't want this to seem like a VS. thread,
but I just want to learn more about the two 1911's I like. and NO, I can't buy both!.

Uh, this is damn near apples to oranges

you have one pistol with fixed sights and the other w adjustible brick wall

one is intended as a defense weapon and the other a box stock plinking/competition pistol.

Define your purpose clearly. If it is a dedicated range weapon and you plan on putting lots of lead down range, adjustible sights and all the bells & whistles might be the way to go. If this on the other hand is a pistol that is supposed to double for nightstand duty as well as the range you might want to consider fixed.

And if you want a pistol that looks good don't get one with those fugly serrations on the front of the slide

I own the Kimber Tactical Custom II.  It is very accurate.  It has also been completely reliable.  I use Wilson 47D magazines simply because I'd like to prevent the frame gouging caused by the steel follower in some mags.

The aluminum frame has been problem-free in the approximately 2000 rounds I have through the gun.

I think the Springfield Trophy Match would be a better range gun because of its steel frame and adjustable sights.  The Kimber is better suited for carry.

The Trophy match probably would suit my needs better(it will be just a range gun)but
I think it could do just fine incase of an intruder also.

I love the way the trigger looks on the Kimber, wonder if I could get one like that
on the springfield? I like the two-tone with bright trigger and hammer on the Kimber.

There probably is a place that makes a bunch of different trick triggers...??
