Tell me what recoil spring and mainspring setup you have in your 5'' 1911's. Talking about strictly shooting 230 grain. Thanks.

I run the 16# recoil and 23# mainspring setup as well with zero problems.

18.5 # recoil spring. Mainspring is whatever the gun came with.

I used to run Wolff 18-18.5# recoil springs and Wolff XD firing springs exclusively in all my 5" 1911's, but since I got my Pro back from Hilton Yam I run 17# recoil springs. He did the work and that’s the weight he recommends. I figure it's a smart idea to listen to him.

my springer GI came with a 14# spring, I bought a 16# and shot with that awhile and decieded to try a wolf 18#, it started short strokeing with wwb 230gr fmj, the ra45tp worked out great with it, but since I mostly shoot ball I have the 16# in now

I usually shoot 200gr @ 900fpsa from my Government model so I use 19 lb. main and 16 lb. recoil. If I were to stick to just 230 FMJ/Ball I woud run with 19 lb. main and 18 lb. recoil.

I used the wolff 18# vari reciol spring and did not like it. I found that it lacked the umph needed durring mag changes to put the gun into full battery. I Went back to the regular 18# and had no problems.

Right now I use wolff 18# recoil springs and wolff 18# main spring. Nice crisp trigger pull on my 4 1911's!

Variable recoil spring is good for below standard power loads.
For factory spec loads or higher its not what you want to use.

18.5 and 19 springs. I burn a lot of Wolf ammo (a tad hotter) so the 18.5 works for me.
