I picked up a used stainless loaded a while back and the rear sight was way off to the right. I got to looking at it and the front sight was pinned slightly off center to the right. Took it to the range and no biggie it was hitting pretty close to point of aim. Well I like to tinker and I kept thinking of the sight being off center and it was driving me a bit nuts. So tonight out came the cordless dewalt and I drilled out the pin, drifted the front sight over a bit redrilled the slide (actually widened the existing pin hole just a bit to the left) Popped in a new roll pin and some lock tight just for good measure. After I finished with the front sight I went ahead and drifted the rear to center. I'll have to get to the range this week to see where point of impact is now and maybee drift the rear a bit. So my question is is it common for the front sight on the loadeds to be pined off center a bit? How many of you have had to drift your rear all the way to one side or the other? This is my third or fourth springfield and the first one I've had to adjust the sights on a bit. |
