Do you use a liquid lube or Grease on your 1911?

I use a thin layer of grease myself. Stays put and doesn't run out of the gun.

I was going to ask this sometime, as I thought it might work.  And us M14 / M1 shooters have it on hand.  I've never tried it though.

I use a very thin layer of Militec grease.  Applied with fingers that you can hardly see the grease there.  Never failed me.  Hell of a lubricant.

I use a Midway gun grease that comes in a tube.  It stays put and lasts for quite some time.

Brownell's Action Lube...grease.

It was designed, like most weapons up until the alumnium age, to be lubed with grease, not oil...

Oil on some things, sure (like springs)..but grease on all the serious metal-to-metal contacts (like slides, operating rods, etc...)

At least, that's how I was taught...yep, grease goes on my Garands and M1 Carbines, too. Even use some on my AK's

Sentry Solutions Hi-Slip grease for the rails/slide, barrel bushing, barrel lugs and slide lock.  Just rub it on with finger.

Tuf-glide liquid every now and then down the hammer for the internals and on the thumb safety shaft.

Tetra Gun grease, it has like 500x more fluoropolymer in it than clp. I have little if no wear on my firearms where I use it

I have used both.

TW25B, Tetra, PL-10, and plain old NGL no.2  bearing grease. Never a Problem with lube. Pisses my gunsmith off when I give him a pistol for bluing as it is full of grease. I want to but a zerk fitting in the dust cover to save time.

I just follow Hilton Yam's advice and lubricate the weapon based on what I'm doing with it at the time. For everyday carry I use TW25B grease. It does a great job and does not drain off or dry out. One application usually lasts for 200-300 rounds.

For extended range trips or classes I run mine very wet with CLP or Break Free.

I use FP10 for all my 1911s.

I've used grease in the past but haven't seen an increase in performance to justify its use.  It tends to really cake up after a few hundred rounds and I usually end up squirting some oil in there to break up the mess.

I use FP-10 mostly but also have Brian Enos' slide glide for the rails.  The slide glide is a very good grease and I have heard very few people that didn't like it after trying it.

I'm a Grease Convert.

Used to just use oil , but after seeing how some pistols show internal wear quickly , I now use
a white gun grease on slide rails and internals , and use oil for nooks and crannies and the exterior.

Grease actually helps with cleaning because it holds the crap and its easy to see it.

I use hi-temp disk brake grease from the local automotive store for trips to the local range.  1 pound of that stuff will probably last a life time.

Now if I was off to a dusty environment, MPro-7.  When that stuff dries, it practically repells dirt particles.

I do like the Protec/Wilson Combat grease.  It's the best I've found for lightening triggers.  Their oil is OK but nothing special -- though the syringe applicator is nice.  I have a buttload of both oil and grease that someone gave me for free.
