OK I need about 10 Wilson Officer mags and THEN I need the parts to rebuild 4 other officers mags I own. 1) 47 OX or OXC what are the differences? This is for carry so I think Id want the lowest profile mag possible unless you have a reason I wouldnt want that. 2) 7 round for officers is going to be much more reliable than 8 round in the big picture isnt it? 3) Who has the best pricefor what I need? I need these before Friday the 9th so PLEASE IM, Email or reply here ASAP. |

The difference between the OX and OXC is the base plate...the "C" is thinner and IIRC made of steel. This allows for an almost flush mag seat for CCW. While this is nice for carry, I would prefer the standard OX model for any spare mags carried simply because the slightly thicker base pad makes magazine seating a bit more positive under less than ideal conditions. In fact, when carrying my OM I use a factory Colt mag with flat base plate in the gun and one or two older 6rd. Wilson mags for spares, depending on how I am dressed. (That particular Colt mag has never let me down, but generally I would prefer the Wilsons over factory Colts) The 8rd. Officers mag is, as best I can tell (I have never seen one live and in color!) simply the standard 8rd. 1911 mag with a different base pad that acts as a stop to prevent the mag from being slammed in past the catch and jamming the gun (pretty easy to do with a standard mag if the pistol is shot to slide lock) It will stick out 5/8in. beyond the butt of the gun when fully seated. You can buy the base pads to convert a standard mag to this configuration but it will not work in a standard 1911 after the conversion. Brownell's usually has the standard OX mags in stock. If you call your order in, they are very generous with their discount if you are an LEO or work on LE guns, etc. Wilson's mag page... www.wilsoncombat.com/a_magazines_compact.asp Brownell's (discount price for the OX mags is $22.36ea.) www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=16398&title=1911+AUTO+WILSON-ROGERS+MAGAZINE There are also a couple of dealers in the EE who stock and sell these mags. |
