I had been using 5.5gr Unique under a 185gr LSWC. Accuracy was just OK. I lowered my charge to 5.0gr Unique and my groups shrunk to about 3"-4". Today dad and I tried WST. We loaded 4.5gr WST under the 185gr LSWC. I shot them in 3 different pistols- 2 SA and one Kimber. All 3 shot 1.5" groups rested at 25 meters. The WST is much cleaner than Unique. Felt recoil in the 5.0gr Unique load and the 4.5gr WST was so similar I couldn't tell the difference. Both loads are fairly mild. We use them in falling plate matches and look for reduced muzzle flip since it is basically speed shooting. Just for fun we both shot at a swinging plate at 50 yards. The WST load let us hit it 4 out of 6 rounds fired using iron sights. It has a LOT of potential! I do not have a chronograph and have no idea how fast the bullet is travelling. |
