| Hey all, I'm looking at picking up a Kimber (most likely the Custom II but depends on the money situation in a few weeks as to upgrade) and I am wondering if anyone has had issues (negative) with the newer kimbers? I only ask because ive randomly heard that some of the newer ones were giving some people feeding problems, and one of my buddies who just got a custom carry is having some feeding problems. We think it could be the mags, but it still jams up every mag or 2 for no visible reason. So i'm just wondering if anyone has had any negative issues and if so what they are. This would be great info, but it'll still be hard for me not to pick on up. I love them, just dont own one yet. |

I have only 3rd-hand anecdotal experience with these pistols, so take this FWIW. Most people are very satisfied with their Kimbers and a noticeable portion are not. Kimber is an ambitious manufacturer, and the more pistols a firm produces, the more lemons are cranked out along with the good pistols. If you buy a Kimber you should expect (and should probably get) satisfaction. Personally I don't care for Kimbers, but if their existence puts a boot in the ass of other manufacturers to increase quality and/or decrease price, I am glad they're in the game. |

What length barrel Kimber do you have. If you have a 5" or 4" barrel you should be able to feed it almost anything. If you have a barrel shorter than 4" you should use round nose ammunition. I have found that tapered bullets do not feed as well as round nose bullets in a short barreled 1911. Just my 0.02 |
| i've had a custom II for a little over a year and it was my first 1911 and i am very pleased with it. bought 3 mecgar mags a blackhawk cqc serpa holster and matching 2 mag holster and love it. i carry it when im not working and have only had 2(maybe 3) ftf but coulnt tell if it was the mag or gun. may have just been the gun since it hadnt been cleaned in a while. yeah i know i was slacking that week. i would sugest the tru-glo tfo sights. they are damn good sights. |

The internal extractor is not noticeable on the slide. The external extractor will be seen on the outside of the slide at the rear of the ejection port as a seperate piece. I had a Custom II with the external extractor and had three FTF in the first 20 rounds but none in the next 300. It was a very nice gun. |
