I wanted to know what your opinions was on the Sig Revolution 1911? To be specific the Revolution Carry? I know that sig started out with the GSR and I am not certain but from what I read it got mixed reviews. In fact what I was hearing prolonged me from buying one, however I now feel that what ever the bugs were Sig has worked them out and the Revolution Carry is looking pretty appealing.

Secondly, do you feel like the STI  1911's are worth it? They seem sooo pricey.  I noticed that most high dollar 1911's still only give you 8-9round magazines, with that in mind why not buy a say glock 17 with more rounds?

Lastly, What is CNC  and MIM? Does aluminum frames resist corrosion better? Aren't aluminum frames more likely to bend? I know it's to reduce the weight but I am concerned because I own a kimber pro carry II and now I am not sure as to wether it was a good buy? I haven't had any problems out of it.  In terms of reliability, accuracy, shootability and value ( also combat)  how do you rank the 1911 manufactors out there? Please list the ones you've shot and those you haven't.

I have heard from a few people that the old ones were pretty bad and the new ones are pretty good. They are made with almost none or no MIM parts.  Some people seem to dislike the different slide design due to holster restrictions. I have not personally shot this gun. Handled a couple and they seemed well put together. I too dislike the external extractor.

Yes STI is a very good brand. Remember, STI is not a high value mass-producing MIM part using maker, like springfield, smith and wesson, kimber and para. Some people have a small gripe because STI uses cast frames on some of their guns. Another gripe is the different style slide serrations. Some people dont like it because it doesnt look like the original design. Personally I think the STI Trojan is one of the best full size guns in the $900 range. The new stainless Trojan is even nicer but it is even more, around $1200. You may be looking at their high capacity guns if they are real expensive.

I noticed that most high dollar 1911's still only give you 8-9round magazines, with that in mind why not buy a say glock 17 with more rounds?

This is quite a subjective question. If you are a good shoot, you wont need more than 8-9 shots in a real-life defensive situation. Why not buy a glock 17? If you really want a glock get it and shoot it, but you will not have a gun that is a piece of american history and you wont have a gun that is almost a work of art with amazing accuracy.

CNC stands for Computer Numerical Control and is a process using in cutting metal. MIM is a process called metal injection molding. These are two completely different things. CNC you would take a piece of steel and using a machine you would cut a piece out of it. MIM you would take a mold and inject metal into it you get a slide.  Aluminum frames would resist corrosion more than say a cast carbon steel gun. Aluminum can bend, but most aluminum frames used in 1911s do just fine.

Your last question is too subjective to answer and I doubt anyone could answer it without gettin flamed.

also, read the primer on MIM that is a sticky in this forum.

I am a big fan of the GSR.  I have a couple of grips about it, but they are not over quality.  In terms of the components used, there is not a better deal on the market right now.  They use VERY high quality parts and there is not a single MIM part in it.  The same can not be said of STI which at the very least uses an MIM thumb safety.  There may be other MIM parts but I don't know for sure.

My girpe with the GSR is that you have to get a custom holster or one that is loosely fit for a generic 1911.  The slide contour just will not work in a well fit 1911 holster.  I'm also not a fan of external extractors but at least this one is identical to the Caspian one so you can replace it if needed.
