| I have a SA alloy frame that I need to get refinshed. ANyone just beadblast and leave bare? I was maybe wanting a phosphate Colt AR type finish or a bakeon polymer. Something that wears but can also be redone easily .Is there any extra steps I should consider for alloy. TIA |

I suppose you could just beadblast and leave bare but it'll scratch pretty easily. Its not as tough as stainless if you are asking the alloy to be its own "finish". Alot of my customers are asking me to use Norrell's Moly Resin on their pistols, and I've had good results. Here's a thread I made with some pics of a Colt 1991 I reworked that has the semi-gloss black Norrell's treatment. I can also do other colors. www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=5&f=49&t=28058 I'll be happy to refinish it for you in any of the Norrell's colors. Shoot me an IM if you're interested. |
What I'd do is get in touch with a good machine shop in your area. One that has CNC machines and does a fair bit of of production. Ask those guys where they send their stuff to get anodized for their customers. You can't beat a good mil-spec (HA-III) hard annodize for aluminum. |
