I am looking for a light rail I can mount to my Norinco. And want to find out what others are using. I am looking for a picatiny rail, that will accept a Surefire Nitrolon P101, or similar light. In addition I saw this 1911 Tick rail, and wanted to know if anyone has used one and what their thoughts are.

Caspian Arms and Wilson Combat offer picatinny rails for 1911s.
They require the frame to be drilled and tapped to accept mounting screws.
I wasn't able to find links to either model, but the rails are shown in both companys' catalogs.

Surefire has a new one that looks good-I am looking to put one on My Norinco, too.

I'm going with the Yost Bonitz.  It comes with an adapter and an X200 for about $310.

I went through Dawson Precision for their proprietary rail and SF nitrolin weapon light.
IIRC the SF lights are not picatinney (except x200) and normally use a bolt on light mount.

I don't know if any of the rails mentioned previously, do in fact fit the SF weapon lights.

I am very pleased w/ the Dawson product.  It's a lot slimmer and unobtrusive compared to any other rail that gives you a quick and convenient on and off feature.

Thank you all for your replies. I have been looking at the Surefire mount; now I just have to find a deal.

Has anyone found a kydex holster that will work with the light mounted on one of the add on rails?  I have contacted safariland and blade-tech and no response.

I'm sure it works fine for a light rail, but just try finding a holster that works with it.

Dawson Precision  for the rail, blade tech for the holster.

Though I'm a huge fan of the Dawson rail, there is a guy selling the Surefire rail on the EE:

Blade tech made me a Holster for my 1911 w/ nitrolin light mounted on a Dawson rail.

Blade Tech is slow on their e-mails.  Both will make you a holster.  Safariland already makes one for the Kimber DET-1 pistol with Surefire IMPL mounted on a Dawson rail.  It's not cataloged, but if you call their 1-800 number, they'll build you one.

I already have another that fits a 1911 with the Surefire Classic light, and I can run an X200 or M3 off my Springfield Operator in this holster no problem.  Both Blade Tech and Safariland make great holsters, and I would recommend both.

Ok, I finally got my MR07 light rail and installed it on my Norinco. I really like it. I was a little worried it would make the weapon feel a little off balance, but it is actually perfect. Installation was easy, and the rail does not detract too much from the natural lines of the weapon. This picture is before I made some adjustments too the rail. I lowered the leading edge about 1/8 inch, so it is more parallel with the frame and the slide. The M3 light is in perfect position, and I can easily activate with either my trigger finger, or my left thumb.

Can anyone post pics of the holsters that accomodate a 1911 with a light?

There are several holsters for 1911’s with lights. I am looking at two. I don’t have any pics but attached are links.
