I remember way back in the early 1980's Springfield Armoury started sellng basic 1911's
for $250.00.

I ended up buying a Defender for $549.00 in October of 1989 (Serial number NM757XX)

I sent it to Pachmayr in Pasadena, CA and had the following work done:

King's #109 Sights Front and Rear
Pachmayr Trigger with 3-4 pound trigger job
Ramp and thoat job
Black Teflon finish all around
Pachmayr Combat grips

Still love that gun!
