Out of 250 rounds at least a dozen times the slide locked back on me.C.M. mags and blazer ammo no malfunctions from my eclipse pro with the same mags and ammo. Most of the malfunctions were when I started, is this just break in or what? It didn't happen with my eclipse when I first got it.

Extended slide release on this? And try another type of mag, some mags can hit the slide release and cause this. A bit of careful filing will fix it. [On the slide lock]

I suspect the you thumb(s) is hitting the slide lock under recoil. Try shooting with a low thumb grip rather than high or medium.

That's the first thing I thought of as well.

That's a negative on the grip I too had thought that may have been the problem and no extended slide release.

Call Kimber, they will send you a new slidestop.

You can use a dremel and take alittle metal off the offending area.

Oversized lug on slide stop engaging the mag follower?

Putting a detent on the slide stop would probably help, too.

You did not say if this happened  on the last rd. or before.
If there are still bullets in the mag the follower can't get to the slide stop yet.
Look to see if there is copper marks left on the nose of the slide stop from the bullets coming by on their way to the bbl.
One of three things is happening;
You are flipping it up yourself under recoil.(change grip)
The bullet nose coming by touching the slide stop flipping it up.(slightly trim and contour slide stop, BUT NOT TO MUCH OR NORMAL SLIDE LOCK WILL NOT WORK)
Or not enough tension on the slide stop from the plunger spring.(SLIGHT detent or dimple for plunger to stop in, too much again will stop normal slide lock)
I had to do both slide stop mods to my Kimber that did premature slide locks out of the box.
Good luck.

It was locking back at all different times one thing I noticed was that the slide stop was not fully up just about halfway I would then just lower the slide stop or pull the slide back and release and it would be fine until the next time.It did seem to happen less the more rounds I put though it.Maybe it is just the slide release.

Yup! its at least 1 of the 3 if not more.
Try concentrating on a proper grip.
I am guessing you are right handed.
Right hand thumb high hold ( thumb resting on top of safety).
Weak hand in pocket under right thumb with left thumb on top of slide stop.
Both thumbs pointing at target.
Still betting on bullet nose moving it up.( fixes in above post).
