I am in the market for a 1911.  Looking at a Kimber CDP fullsize and love the way it looks. I would like to shoot 3 gun matches and was not sure if that would be a good choice. It does look nice but a little expensive(850 was 1200, it is new) I could go with a more basic model like the custom target II and save money but would wonder what i am missing out on. Is this gun worth the extra money? I can spend 700-900 and would prefer Kimber but any suggestions or guidence would be great. This noob needs a little help. Thanks.

If you're looking to use it to compete with you may be better served by a steel frame Model which will give you faster followup shots as the additional weight will better help control recoil.

Actually, I just bought a Kimber stainless II today. I think it will do the job. Thanks for all the help.

Find a Norinco... then send it to Clark's for custom combat conversion.
Or, just get an accuracy job.

The Norinco is the best platform to start from.
