Checker the front strap.  Add a good grip safety to stop hammer bite.  Good sights, either Heinie or Novak night sights.  4.5 lb trigger job.  I did this to mine.

Thx for the imput. My Para 13 limited has adjustable sights such as Bomar. With that said can Heinies or Novak sights replace them.I was told the deep and wide cut in the slide prevents this.

I am not a big fan of checkering so I had Novak's do their hand matting and I love it.  Plenty of grip w/o the bite.  I also think it looks great and on the corners of Para hi-cap front strap, the metal is pretty thin... one wrong move by the smith and the frame could be wrecked.

Another good idea for any carry gun is a "carry bevel pkg" where they dehorn the gun of all its sharp edges.

What year is your P13?  Does it need a beavertail?   Get night sights?  Those are a must for any carry or home defense gun IMO.   Since you have a Ltd, they may not be able to replace the rear for the reason you mentioned.  I have however seen adjustible rears with a small tritium dot below the notch.  For the front sight they can put in whatever you like.  You might try the big front dot from xssights.com.  Great idea and easy to pick up under all conditions.

If the gun has ever hiccuped beyond the break-in period then you might want to look at a reliability pkg.  Most good smiths will test fire and zero the gun for you with whatever ammo you tell them you want to carry.  This allows them to adjust the feed ramp if necessary as well.

I have used Novak's (novaksights.com) for both my P14 and P12 and love the results!!  There are other good smiths in the business, but my only experience has been with Novak's.  I did shoot an EGW single stack 1911 that was amazing, but the gun was a rental.

Here is a P14 w/ the Novak Hand Matting on the front strap.  He can also put it on the backstrap, grip safety, top/back of slide.

Here is a P12 with the matting also:

Good luck and let us know what you decide.  :)
