I read somewhere the other day about a gentleman that held that out as a hallmark of  his pistol's ablity to feed flawlessly.... I tried it with my 1911's and thought BFD - everyone's 1911 can feed empty cases right?

Humor me - stick an empty case in a mag and let me know if  it feeds; if you at the range - stick an empty case below a live round and let me know if it feeds - I kinda think they all feed emptys but I am curious.

TIA

I can say with a pretty good degree of certainty that feeding empty cases isn’t a hallmark of reliability. It sure sounds good in gun magazines but I prefer my guns feed actual live rounds... but yes, my gun will do it.

My old Springer would do it.  If I ever thought I was flinching at the range, I'd load two of them randomly in the magazines as I loaded them.  They always fed perfectly and resulted in a "click".  This was an old gun that was made before they all came with throated barrels.  I polished it, but nothing else.  I then replaced the barrel with a new Wilson "drop-in" and it stopped working.  This barrel has a tight chamber and will not take empties.

I haven't tried my Operator yet.
