Any yay/nay votes on the Nowlin kit from Brownells?  Specifically Brownells #  654-012-110.

Just curious if this would be a decent way to get away from MIM parts on my Kimber 25th Anniversary.

Ditto with hobbs,

I have the pro in a pistol and it's a good FCG (read the price is right at dealer cost).  Spend a little time tuning the SS unit, and it's a great unit.

Note: if you going to drop the pull weight down to the 2lb mark, you going to need a lighten trigger of you're going to get hammer release from trigger bounce.

I got their drop-in Speed Daemon (or whatever) one...

It really did just drop in. The frame it went into was a little out of spec though...I had to do some work to the safety to get it to actually work. The stock trigger works fine with it. I tried dropping in an aftermarket one that promised no fitting, blahblah..no workie. The stock's fine for me, though, just wish I could block it so it just breaks and stops, not continues bac. Anyway.

The drop in bit is fantastic. Trigger pull went from longish and heavy to crisp and light. I highly recommend one, if you have an in-spec frame, want a decent fire control group job, and don't want to spend oodles of money/the time it'd take for a good smith to do his work...

The dealer price is certainly worthwhile  My stock trigger is ok, but if these are good I can kill two birds and not lose downtime with smithing.

Hobbs / Dano, realizing it's a personal choice thing, where would you go for triggers?  I'm not looking for a 2lb break on this gun, just a decent carry job.

Get one with a tool steel hammer.  Any of the 3 more pricey ones have that.

THE SEAR IS NOT MIM

I e-mailed nowlin about this and got a reply stating that it was a typo, and that the sear is infact tool steel.

I can post it if need be.

SCOTT,
WISE DECISION ON GETTING RID OF THE MIM. BROWNELLS IS A MISPRINT ON MY
SPEED DEMON ACTION KIT. ITS ALL TOOL STEEL. YES I HAVE THE SLIDE STOP AND
F.P. STOP ON FULLY MACHINED AND HEAT TREATED FORM. COST IS AS FOLLOWS.
ACTION KIT SPEED DEMON           129.95
MACHINED F.P. STOP                10.95
MACHINED SLIDE STOP               22.95

Straight from the man himself.

Unfortunately, by the time he sent me the reply...I had already ordered ed brown parts from brownells, and a Kings hammer and trigger.  But, from the sound of it, can't go wrong with the nowlin.

Gotcha.  I think I'll be doing the Nowlin kit, just need to settle on a trigger and I'll make the order.
