| I'm looking for a 1911 to carry, I have a SA Mil spec, but I want to get one that is shorter as well. what is the shortest you would go? and what am I giving up by going to a shorter barrel? and are there any problems with the shorter barrel 1911s. I like the SA 1911s so the one I get will probily be one of theirs. |
| I have a buddy who carries a Kimber Ultra Compact in an ankle rig. It's been reliable and surprisingly accurate. He's also got a Kimber RCP, that is just as good with a sight groove instead of carry sights. I don't have one myself, but they seem to work great. They are both bushingless barrels. |
+1 except Springfield V10 Ultra Comp. And except that I do have it to do all over again -- I just haven't exercised that option yet. |
| Para Ordnance's Warthog seemed to get a bad rap to start but the issue with them stems from inexpensive mag springs. I have a Warthog, 3" barrel, ten round double stack and after changeing the mag springs to Wolff, polishing the feedramp and throat, it is now 100% reliable. Its smaller and ligher then my xd-9 sub compact , the frame is the same width, and the slide is thinner. Overall id rate it an 8 on a scale of 1-10 just due to haveing to fiddle with it as a new gun. 3" 1911's arent bad if you get oen that runs good. |

interesting.
