just got a ww2 remington rand,im not a collector of such arms....my interests in guns leans toward modern black guns...ill give you the low down rr marked slid us prop sn#1567xxx,1943,i think..m 1911 us army left side frame ord mark, n on trigger gaurd,upper,h on lower tg right side frame fja inspector mark, p below mag release, 4 on tg L on mag lip p on top of slide fixed sights 75 to 80% finish in harpham bros mdl 12(?) holster, us marked,in good shape this is the most interesting part.... plexiglass grips...on left side is a cartoon drawing of a nude woman....playing with her lower goods....right side is a picture,prob out of a blue mag, of a full nude woman...thes are original to the gun,as i am a collector of vintage blue books and pin ups,i know a fake....the gun has been in the holster since it returned with the ww2 vet. all correct slide stop,hammer,safety,ect... my questions are... whats it worth? is it that rare to have vintage porn on the grips? ive seen pinups and sweetheart pics. lmk what you guys think, and if you have any questions |

The grips would not have been original. They may be about as old as the gun but they aren't original. Those guns were made for war and they sure wouldn't have spent time putting fancy grips on them. Between 1943 and 1945 they made almost 1.1 million Remington Rands. 70% on that gun is about $550.00 80% is about $600.00 |

im aware that the grips are not factory...prob put together by a horny G.I. or a clever armorer.......ive seen grips like it b4,especilally on other european ww1 and ww2 pistols im aware of its base value...im looking to also see about its unusual collectors value....but the base value(blue book or price guide) is just the starting point with usgi 1911s....ive done a little research.... i think some of the prices out there are crack smokin! just wanted to get some constructive feedback to help with my choice of keeping or selling the gun.....you do need to see the gun to really get a feel for it. |

So you are figuring to sell it with the grips that are on it as a "special item" You know it's a war GI issue gun and are relitively certain some GI may have made his own grips for the gun. I guess I understand what you are looking for now. That price is going to be hard to come by. You will be looking for a certain buyer only and may have to sit on it until you can come by that person. It's a hard call. You may be able to offload it to some special war collector possibly. |
