I found these links

www.signaturegrade.com/sg/baseguns.html

www.signaturegrade.com/sg/which1911.html

Would it be possible and/or desireable to have some kind of faq posted with some basic info for those new to 1911s?

That would be great!  I just bought my first 1911 two days ago & I've been digging around trying to find as much info as possible.  A FAQ would be really beneficial.

Sounds good.  I can't remember how many times I've seen these:

-What's a good add on rail for a 1911?
-How do you fit an extractor?
-How do you fit an ejector?
-What's the best mag for a 1911?
-How do you change a mainspring housing?
-What parts are MIM in a Springfield/Kimber?

That FAQ will cut down on some of the e-mails I have to answer each day.

How about this one (because I do want to know myself):  How can you tell if a part is MIM?

Which known parts manufacturers do not make MIM parts?

This was a very helpful diagram for me, might come in handy for others, although permission will probably be needed.   http://www.m1911.org/loader.swf

It seems like I see these at least once a week.

"Rock Island or Springfield"
"Internal vs. External Extractor"
"Why doesn't Colt have a website?"
"Should I get a Loaded or Milspec?"
"Is it cheaper to build my own 1911?" usually followed by
"How do I build my own 1911?"

How about a link to a exploded disassembly pic of a 1911?  I have seen a lot of people ask for it.
