I have about 250 rounds of Wolf 45 to bast out.  I am not a very big fan of it, but I don't want to waste it.  I have a Springfield 1911.  Will the ammo do any real damage to the extractor ?

Nope.  Shoot it up and enjoy!

I think I've shot 700rds of Wolf in my SA1911 this year.  Decent ammo.

I shot Wolf ammo through my STI Trojan, and it fucked up my extractor. After about 20 rounds I had an FTE everytime I pulled the trigger. I took it back to Dawson Precision, and I thought Dave was going to choke me for putting steel cased ammo through one of his tuned pistols.

Since then, only brass cased ammo for this gun and its been absolutely flawless. As Dave Dawson says, "They make brass cased ammo out of brass for a reason."

If your pistols eat steel cased ammo without any problems, more power to you. I personally stay away from it.

I shoot Wolf ALOT in my Kimber Target with no problems so far.  I also have an extractor or two in box of spare parts just in case.

I wouldn't run Wolf in a race gun either. For the other 99.9% of pistols in the world, it's just fine. The savings on one case is enough to cover three extractors if it became an issue.

What exactly did the Wolf ammo do to the extractor?  I shoot Wolf ammo in a custom built 1911 that's built with a KKM Precision  match barrel and is as tight as any 1911 without any problems.

I was told that it rolled my extractor. I'm not familiar with that term. But I do know that I had no problems before I fed my pistol Wolf ammo, and was having major problems afterwards. I've fed my pistol nothing but brass cased ammo ever since, and I've had absolutely no problems.

What brand 1911 is it?

I've yet to experience a 45 1911 that likes Wolf or non-brass ammo. Wolf and CCI aluminum always hang up in my 1911's.

My Glock 17 will run fine with 9mm Wolf, but the it's just so damn dirty!!

My Dan Wesson .45 with a match grade barrel eats Wolf like candy. It's not the most accurate, but most of the time I'm just punching paper. I've put 1000 rounds through it already, and just picked up another case last weekend. If it fries my extractor, big deal, I toss in another one. A $25 extractor is way cheaper than full priced gun store ammo.

PS My Glock 17  likes it too

It wasn't that long ago that most guys on the board frowned upon Wolf ammo.  Now a bunch of us feed our AR's a steady diet of it.  It seems to be getting better and better press all the time.  Plus Wolf will give you your money back if you have problems with the ammo.

Now if we can just get the guys over at the M-14 Firing Line to believe that it won't break your gun.  I mentioned on there awhile ago that I shot a couple boxes of Wolf .308 through one of my M-1A's.  Man,  I'm lucky I wasn't banned from the site.
