is that the smallest 1911 Springfield makes, or is there one that is one size smaller? Is the spring set up different than on a regular 1911? Didn't they have to modify the design for the smaller 1911s?

The Light Weight Micro Compact knocks off about 8oz and about a quarter of an inch in length.

Springfield is running out of adjectives.  Next in line: The Pico Compact.

I've got the Loaded Micro Compact LW OD Green. It's got a 3" barrel
Awesome CCW piece.

Springer Compact series:
Compact: 4" barrel , same frame as Colt Officers
Ultra Compact: Same as above W/ 3.5" barrel
Micro Compact: Same as above W/ 3" barrel

All three could be had at one time or another in parkerized steel, blued, , stainless, two-tone(blue/stainless/aluminum, ) , V-10/12 barrel porting and  light-weight aluminum frame.
Ultra/ Micro compact have recently been available in black or green GunKote and black/green two-tone GunKote.

Compact model and all green GunKote have been DISCO-ed , IIRC.
Also first Compact models had a barrel brushing. later production has a bull-barrel

I had one that was a greay shooter. Unfortunately, I rarely shot it. Put 'er on the blocks...

Be well!

Now you've done it! See what happens when you stick that needle in your arm for the first time?

I got the 1911 sickness, then the AR disease. Now I'm broke, drinking Hoppes, CLP and wondering how long I'll last after they take all my other belongings/property.

Kids..they just don't listen.

I had a stainless ultra V-10. Very accurate and light recoil. I still regret trading it.

Warning, 1911's are addicting and have been known to be worse than Lays potato chips.
