A Dan Wesson.....

Excuse the utterly shitty pic.  Win 10 no longer has a proper photo editor and what little is left suck as bad as Win 10.

What does NOT suck is this Dan Wesson Razorback.  My roomie picked this up and...DAMN IT!  What a fantastically made and fitted gun.

You can NOT do better for a production gun than this.  I am a solid Colt guy...and for the price point, excepting the Delta Elite, Colts are a damn good value.  The Delta has one GLARING omission and that is a fully ramped barrel.  It's gonna keep dragging them down until they wake up and get out of the 1980s with their awful Gold Cup throated 10mm barrel.

But....BUT....Dan Wesson.....this is a cut above.  Ramped barrel, tight (but not too tight) bushing....excellent trigger.  Crisp but NOT too light.

The frame machining....is INCREDIBLE.  This is the finest frame I have seen this side of a Les Baer.  Slide is right along with it.....ejector and extractor fitting are STELLAR.

This gun is a STEAL at 14 bills from everything I have seen.

Oh...and finally someone got a 1911 slide stop correct!!!!

GREAT GUN!!!

LOL! You know why I am laughing? Because we have the itch at the same time. I ordered this at 13:04 central time TODAY.

Dan Wesson Valor 10mm Duty Finish. It should be in in about 3-5 days.

Not sure where you are shopping but I have done about 4 months of research. I found Grab A Gun to be the Best Buy for the Valor. Bud's is good too but Grab A Gun was about $50 less. These 2 sites update their prices numerous times throughout the day. There can be a $60 to $125 swing up or down in 20 minutes. You might come across a site called Oak Hill out of PA. Stay away from them because he (1 man show) has lowball prices then will add charges on the back end that you didn't know about.... or so I have read! The RZ10 is a sweet looking 1911!
I actually paid $1911 for my Valor today, it was a sign!

You're gonna love it!  They are as close to impeccable as posible for a "production" gun.  They take pride in their work, I'll tell ya.

I have DW building me a 1911 in their custom shop. After talking at length with Keith i decided to go with DW. He assured me a gun built in their custom shop would be on a totally different level than their production guns. He was very accommodating and helpful through the process. Its at coating now being melonited inside and out including all small parts. The gun came back and he immediately sent the frame back out to be recoated because he didn't like the way it looked.

I had a bunch of specific things I wanted done to it including changing the rail on it (I wanted it to end/lineup with the ball cuts) and I also had 2 match barrels fitted (threaded and non threaded) as well as a flat faced trigger. Also he told me to choose any grips I wanted off VZ site and it was included in the price.

Here's the only pic I have so far -

Dan Wesson's are overpriced junk. I mean they don't know how to build a 1911.

Yes there is. As I said yesterday, I am waiting on my 10mm to come in and I am already looking at their .45's. I actually sent an email to Dan Wesson this morning and asked them if the Blue on the A2 was the same as the Blue on the Valor because the valor blue on their website looks gorgeous. Their answer was it is the same but the Valor has polished flats. I kind of wanted to change it up because I just bought a Valor. I guess I could see about doing a custom for me and get the model I want with that Valor Blue. Maybe a Specialist?

I went with the Specialist because I wanted a rail to build a suppressor host, and I didn't like the slide cuts on the Discretion. The only thing I would like to have different out of the box is front slide serrations, but if/when I have it milled for a RMR I'll have them added.

I was told by DW once it's finished in Duty Treatment you can't machine it afterwards.

I absolutely love that gun! Normally I'd say if it were mine I would change this or that but on that I wouldn't change a thing.

Hope it gives you great service.

Well it finally came in today. I couldn't be happier.

So my thoughts -

°This pistol is flawless in EVERY way. Not a tooling mark on it ANYWHERE

°The slide to barrel to frame fit is unlike anything I've ever seen. Literally ZERO play

°They did special little touches like the chamfer on the beavertail etc

°The ball cuts line up perfectly with the rail which I requested

°The trigger I asked to break at 3.5lbs its the lightest cleanest crispest trigger I've ever felt truly like a glass rod snapping

°The Melonite throughout is perfect. No orange peel or blemishes.

°The front strap checkering is perfect. They also cut borders along each side that goes into an undercut. My specialist the checkering just stopped and trailed off

The barrel has zero play and the can and thread protector thread on and it feels almost hydraulic.

The thumb safety clicks on and off with authority but doesn't bind

Slide stop is countersunk and bobbed

Overall I'm just blown away way beyond what I had hoped for

I've always been a Colt or Springfield guy, but I have to admit DW is putting out some beautiful 1911's.

If I get another 1911, I will build it.  I've done a lot of work on my first 1911 and have the books, tools, etc.  It's definitely on the bucket list.

Nice.

I'm strongly considering the A2.

A plain no frills fighting 1911.
