So I picked up my first 1911, an RIA GI basic 5"...I have handled many in the past but never owned one. It seems smooth but I might polish the rails just a touch in a couple places, and it will be like butter. The trigger is ok...has a touch of take up and is a bit gritty but not bad. my only real complaints about it are the beaver tail is kind of sharp if you grip the handgun high up, and second the sights are hard to pick up. And once I got it all wiped down it looks sharp!....I really like the made the logo nice and small up on the back of the slide.
So i'm thinking a touch of white or orange nail polish on the front blade. Then I am going to replace the beaver tail with a wc drop in, and at the same time drop in a wc drop in trigger, and a new barrel bushing because...well SS looks cool against the black lol.... I know I will have to do a little bit of polishing/ fitting for the parts, but I don't mind a fun little project. I also kinda like the basic wood grips, guess I am simple minded haha any other thoughts? and stupid question...but the cmp 7 round surplus mags run in a full size 1911 with a factory 8 round mags right?.... |

Don't polish anything, shooting it will polish what needs to be polished. Use a lot of oil for the first few hundred rounds on the rails and barrel hood.
Congrats on the new 1911 Quoted: and stupid question...but the cmp 7 round surplus mags run in a full size 1911 with a factory 8 round mags right?.... Yes |
