I've got a hankerin' to add a new 1911 to my collection.
I could swing a decommissioned M45A1, but refuse to pay those prices for gouger's benefit.
Anyway, pondering
Kimber Warrior, Colt 70 series or WC rail, Springfield, Colt M45A1 commercial model, Rock Island?
I've got a couple of older Colt's(they stay in the safe or nightstand) & my CCW New Agent.
Really want reliablility, sub 1.5k,no stainless.
Just got the bug ,but haven't shopped around or just getting started considering prospects.
Ideas? Suggestions?

I just ordered a DW A2 for 1200. Not everyone's speed, low on the tactical meter and features a lot of people want these days. I wanted a high quality new build while still old school. Since they are only making 200 I wanted to scarf one up new while I can.

Personally a stainless Valor IMO can't be beat for the money. But no stainless then Springfield TRP would be my choice..

Colt or Springfield. The rest are copies.

Way to many good choices out there with that broad of criteria.

I would say maybe a Springfield Range Operator, MC Operator, TRP or maybe a Colt Railgun, Special Combat, or CQBP.

I'm a big Colt fan but I would say look at a Dan Wesson and see if they have something that will scratch your itch.

There may be a few out there with "gouger" pricing but 3K+ is going to be the low end of pricing on them going forward unless a BUNCH more get released. You have 1000 of them in the wild now, about half of them NIB. Hardcore condition collectors are going to snap up the NIB versions now and as they are resold. I personally think the used examples with provenience are going to end up bringing more than the NIB in the long run.

I quite understand not wanting to pay $3500 for one but a top tier custom runs that much and will not hold price or appreciate like these M45A1's will. Whatever you get, I hope you enjoy it.
