So.....if you're an idiot and somehow manage to strip out a grip screw, what is the best way to get it out?  Besides not being an idiot lol.

I guess drill it and use an easy out.

Easy out

Depends on what exatly is stripped screw head, screw theads, etc

Flat blade screw probably drill head off and grip whats left with vise grips and it will come out.

Allen screw i'd use an ease out.

I'm sorry, it's the Allen head that is stripped.

What gun are you talking about? If the screw is threaded into aluminum, then it is most likely the frame hole that is stripped. If both are steel, it could be either the screw or the frame. Or are you saying the hex head on the screw is rounded so your allen tool won't grab it?

Find a Torx bit that is slightly larger in size and use it to remove the stripped hex screw. You might have to use a small hammer to force the Torx bit into the Hex screw, and it will probably damage the Torx bit, but this is an inexpensive way to remove the Hex fastener.

Make sure you have a mag well filler in there when you start hammering.

This will put some marks in the grip but if the grip panel is expendable use a dremmel with a cutting wheel or a very small file and cut a notch in the grip screw and then use a standard screwdriver to remove the screw.

Incidentally, there is no need to have a grip screw so tight that you strip out the head.  A little past hand tight is sufficient.

It doesn't even take an idiot to strip out allen screw heads that are this small. I prefer standard slotted.

My Colt's grip screws go into bushings screwed into the frame. No need to attack and butcher the frame as some here have suggested. I suppose you might have to sacrifice the one grip panel to get at the bushing, though.

Cut a slot in the screw head then replace all the grip screws with slotted ones.

If that don't work mill off the head and replace the bushing if you cant get the reaming screw threads out.
