worth it or no?

Mine works,  RO compact.  Worth it, IDK.  Seems to have less recoil than it should.  I will say I prefer the std recoil assembly for takedown, but I have figured out a tool less takedown for the ROC.

Guess what I'm saying is it works, so I am not messing with it.

I have two dual recoil spring pistols, a Colt Delta Elite which I changed to a single 22# wolf spring and an oversized EGW flat bottom firing stop, the other is my Colt Defender, which I haven't messed with I simply renew the whole assembly when necessary.

The general answer is that it comes from the factory on some of the new guns, But is hard to find for replacements.
Yes it does make for a softer shooting gun
I see Colt has adopted this on most of their new line of 1911's.
But they or anybody else are not marketing say a double spring kit for something like a 5" 1911.

I liked it in my Colt Competition pistol so much that I've put them into all my 5" guns. Recoil seems a bit softer but I like the 15k round life of them. I am a bit concerned about what kind of battering they may put on my slide stop but I've seen no negative effects so far.

1991A1 compact comes with one.

There are some better setups that use dual springs available for that gun.

It gets 'more spring' available in a smaller distance.

My experience has been it helps in rapid fire magazine dumps into a target that helps tighten up my shot groups. Very controllable and smooth cycling. This is my only experience from using my M45A1.

Where can one purchase the dual spring system like what's found in the Colt Competition?

I ordered the parts from Brownells. I think it showed up as a Rail Gun recoil spring set and a separate Rail Gun guide rod. That was a few months ago, however.
