So how many people have had a milspec 1911, changed some of the internals for what ever reason,
and change nothing externally.

People that shoot CMP matches do this. Why?

I changed both internals & externals on my mil-spec. Sights are horrible on them to begin with & I'm too old to use tiny assed sights................

Mine is still a work in progress but I've changed a few things internally but I'm trying to keep the "classic look" to it.

I like it.  What sights and main spring housing?

I have been eyeing a SA 1911 milspec and would likely put the straight housing on as well.

I put a millet rear sight on mine and ordered USGI barrel bushing, a flat MSH from Amherst Depot and some Dark brown plastic grips from them too.

My BIL has that gun and it's reliable.  I didn't find it overly accurate in comparison to some other 1911's.  Probably could've used better fitting in the bushing / barrel area.  Or some other areas that I don't know how to do.  And some say some of them came with "2 piece" barrels that people were not overly fond of.....  Some of them came with better barrels that were marked NM in the number.  I guess......

C&S 5 piece ignition set, 10-8 rear sight, and EGW barrel bushing and plug.

Yeah that's what I plan on doing when the funding is available.

What is that rear sight and does it come with tritium?

Sorry for the late response. The rear sight is a Harrison, the front sight is a Springfield Armory Gold Bead. The mainspring housing is an older Wilson Combat. All the work has been done by the Springfield Custom Shop.

Not changing a thing. It is my favorite 1911 as is.
