Normally with 1911s I put a set of vz frags on it and call it a day, but thanks to a member here I has acquired a chrome 1911 and need ideas for something more presentable .

Black or carbon VZs? Or are you thinking some wood ones?

I'm thinking of not doing vzs this time and going with something else that would present well with chrome. It has DARK wood on it now and that has to change

How much do you want to spend? Old school stag looks great, as does ivory or poly-ivory.

You can get ivory for that. Boone trading has some nice fake ones and real ivory.

ETA Looks like they may be out of the elephant ivory business. http://www.boonetrading.com/Pg14.html

The best looking chrome 1911 I've seen had uncolored (aluminum) checkered aluma-grips on it.
If you want something more organic, I have a set of Sarges stag (elk) grips with no bark that look similar to aged ivory. They are gorgeous, and the best fitting grips I've seen.
