Hey guys,

I have a Kimber 1911. I have close to 3000 rounds through it. Functions fine. I had a stovepipe early on, but no other malfunctions. When I was cleaning it, I noticed a weird burr / wear on the frame near where the back top of the magazine seats. Is this abnormal? To me it looks like a burr that was pushed away when I inserted magazines, but I don't know if there are fire control groups resting against the backside.

Thanks-a-bunch

Burr? Thats more like a small peice of metal missing.Nothing rest behind that area. The way that looks is like if something struck it from the front.
Pretty odd.

I agree buy the metal isn't bare around the mark. It looks like happened before surface treatment. Thanks for the reply.

1911's will have "Machine marks" inside them sometimes. Nothing to worry about.

This is completely normal on 1911s.   The disconnector tunnel is drilled at an angle and at some point it breaks through into the magwell.   About all that could have been done was to deburr the area but almost nobody ever bothers.

Check the back of the magazine for scratches.

No marks then ignore it.
