I want a "made in Huntsville" Remington (I live in Huntsville), and this one might do it.

Especially after they plagarized WC's Hunter description.

I want my 10mm 1911 to be made by people who know what the fuck they're doing.

Interesting that it doesn't come in 45acp.

Just another 1911 10mm

When will these mfrs realize they need to bring something unique?

A full size polymer single stack 10mm would be killer

OP, I'm with ya. This is an exciting development. If they make a 5" version, I'll have to get one. Remington has made a huge investment in the Huntsville plant. I WANT a Huntsville (non Yankee) 1911 and have been waiting on them to do a rail gun.

Thanks for the heads up.

Fuck yes.

Slim.  With a nice trigger.

Sometimes I wonder if the "idea" people at some of the big gun companies aren't really anti-gunners trying to sabotage the industry from within.

Well, to reach his own, but one reason I love 1911s is because I am sick of plastic guns.

And that list is short indeed.

Isn't this just the re-branded Para longslide? They weren't bad guns, as far as Para goes (which isn't saying all that much).

Combine it with a 10mm lightweight semi auto carbine that takes the same magazines...

Paras were never made at the plant in Huntsville, so I don't think calling them "rebranded Paras" is really fair.

That might actually get me to buy my first 1911.  I have always avoided 1911 because of 1911 snobs.  I own a 10mm but most 10mm snobs say it doesn't count.   But if I bought that I would get to be part of both the 1911 and 10mm Auto snob groups and yet it would probably annoy both groups as its not a 45 ACP 1911 or a 10mm Glock.    It would be interesting companion to go with my S&W 610, the best handgun chambered in 10mm Auto.

Us 1911 guys won't let you in the club with that shitty 1911. You'd be better off with a Metro Arms

10mm is for the guy that thinks he's shooting hellfire missiles with every shot. Guess 40 guys grow up to be 10mm guys in the end. They usually love RIP ammo too.

I settled for a much smaller one...

... but I have a couple of new suppressors in NFA limbo that will say say "Huntsville, Alabama" on them as well.

Fair point, although with Cerberus/Freedom/Whoever owns them now owning both Para and Remington, I do wonder if the formerly Para guns are being made by many of the same people as before.

FWIW, I have the Para 6" 10mm. Most trouble-free para I've owned/shot.

If, as I strongly suspect, it is essentially the Para gun being manufactured under the Rem umbrella, the name was taken from one of the employee's last names, and I believe predates the WC model.

I have not been a fan of Remington for a couple of decades.  I'm even less of a fan of their parent company.
I can think of several ways to spend $1300+ dollars on a 1911 and it isn't a Remington.

Maybe if it was made before they got bought out and went to crap... Now, lol No!

I've said for YEARS that I'd burn up my credit card buying single stack Glocks in .45, made in a commander size and a full size.

And if they cut the VIS like their earlier 1911s it could be interesting.    JD

I have two Remington R1's. One is a standard model, the other is a standard R1S. They are the cheapest 1911's I own, and are decent guns for their price point. There is no way in hell I would pay 1300 for a long slided Remington. I'd tack on 5 more hundred and buy the Dan Wesson Bruin from Bud's.

They will come out with high street price, and the prices will get lower and lower. I doubt I'd even pay 800 for a Remington anything.

I own a Para 10MM, like my other three Para's, it is accurate, reliable, and trouble free. The only thing that bothers me about it is the same thing that bothers me about my Expert. It has an ugly skyscraper fiber optic front sight. That problem will be solved, on both pistols, soon.

I want nothing to do with a modern Remington. I already have a "Remlin", a new rifle that wouldn't even chamber a round correctly. Won't make that mistake again.

Sadly, the "Freedom Group" is just another holding company fiasco.
