After the generous compliments in Jason's thread I decided to post some other pics of my 1911 in its own thread because that thread belongs to the amazing 1911 Jason posted there.

This is Alejandra (3 of my pistols have names, this one is named for the girl in McCarthy's "All the Pretty Horses")

It was a gift from my dad.  His parents once gave him a Hi-Power Renaissance and he said he wanted to do the same for me.  I don't think it'd had ever been fired.  And then he told me to shoot it.  It's a sweet shooter that I've shot enough that I have confidence to carry it anytime.

I've paired it with a Hi-Slide holster with Frontier engraving from El Paso Saddlery

Between how this pistol looks and the fact it was a gift from my dad, it is truly something I treasure and enjoy.  Trust me, I look for excuses to wear this pistol and I hope no one minds me showing it off.

That's beautiful. I've been wanting an engraved 1911 to carry for a while but everything I find is used and shows it.

I sure don't mind seeing it!

The engraved bluing and ivory grips go together like peas and carrots.

Indeed.

And I do the oil on the grips thing every 2 or 3 months because I know how hard it would be to replace them.  And I watch for cracks like a hawk.  But I still shoot it.

That would cost a fortune today.

Ivory can't be that fragile, they used to make pool balls out of the stuff.
