Lost two pounds of spring pull weight in one easy step. Installed a nice new fresh sear in granpa's old .45 warhorse. Smooth as butter now. Granted, the original sear is 98-100 years old and looks like it.  Now I have a decision.  A: clean it up, put a new edge on it and put it back in the old warhorse for posterity, keeping it as original as possible while running the risk of having to hone too much off to straighten it out and render it unservicable, OR B: stick it on my dog tag chain?

Put it in the sonic cleaner ( don't have one yet?  get one, trust me ) and clean it up with an M16 brush.  Lightly cover it in grease, wrap in vapor paper, put in plastic bag and save it.

Plan B.

I never get rid of it as it's a piece of history of the old warhorse.

Its bagged and tagged. I put the old sear in the bag the new sear came in and wrote the serial number on the bag. It will go with the pistol to the next caretaker/owner. The gun came to me with a barrel in the most piss poor condition I have ever encountered. I knew exactfitly what to do. I know to never put the cart before the horse, but when you put a Kart in the pony, good things happen.

Get that thing to an indoor range and you'll chop that group by 2/3rds minimum.  Kart makes one hell of a barrel.
