I'm trying to decide which sight to put on my new Ed Brown Special Forces. I know I want the trijicon HD front sight w/ the orange circle around the tritium night sight. I want a plain rear sight with no dots. 10-8 performance makes one but I'm not sure which height/width to get. The front sight from Trijicon is .144 wide and .215 tall. The 10-8 sight is .325 tall and has widths of .125, .140, .156

I'm not even remotely an expert on sight height but I have .325 rear and .180 front on my 5" 1911's.
I also have the 10-8 rears and Harrison Design rears and FWIW I like the Harrisons better. My sample of exactly one 10-8 sight has some pretty sharp corners and bugged me IWB. I have two sets of the Harrisons and they're both nicely melted. They also have a set that has recessed tritium lamps so it appears as a plain black sight in daylight but you get tritium dots at night. |

I got that measurement from the Trijicon site but it does seem very wide to me. Quoted:

That front sight seems awfully tall and wide. .180" tall and .100" - .110" wide is more like what I prefer using. It seems that the Trijicon rear is also made taller to compensate. I think you would probably be shooting low with a 10-8 sight at the normal Novak height (330 or so) |
