I really like it with two exceptions.
1. My hand is all eaten up from the standard grip safety 2. It shoots consistently 1" low at 25 yards Other than that, the pistol is awesome and is going to make one heck of an EDC gun. I put 500 rounds through it of mixed FMJ and a box of my carry ammo Speer GD 200gr +p. No malfunctions no weirdness with any mag. I used Wilson 47d, Colt and CMC mags. This gun is a really good shooter. |

My mom bought me one when I was 16 so I could shoot at the local pistol only indoor range. She knew I was enlisting And I couldnt really practice with my hunting guns.
It turned into my first carry gun later on. I never had any trouble with it. I never did well but A family friend brought me to some idpa shoots back in high school. Wish I still had it but it was stolen, then destroyed by a PD a few years back. |

Low, relative to what? The top of the sight with 6 o'clock hold? Quoted:

By 1" low, what do you mean? One inch low of point of aim. 10 shot group. Low, relative to what? The top of the sight with 6 o'clock hold? No low with the sight covering the target. |

My SA Loaded was sighted for a dead on hold. You'll need a taller rear sight, shorter front, or heavier bullets possibly. |

Thats some damn fine shooting if you can notice a 1" poi/poa difference at 25 yards I'm reasonably proficient with a pistol I'm probably going to replace the sights at some point because this is going to be my carry gun. On another note, some dude next to me was shooting a Les Baer Grand Master |

Thats some damn fine shooting if you can notice a 1" poi/poa difference at 25 yards This Why is this so amazing? 25 yards is the standard for Bullseye shooting. Oh and that's strong hand only. That means you only get to use one hand. Just in case you didn't know. |

The concentration some of those guys have is amazing. |

What happens when you shoot it offhand at 25 ?
Sometimes, shooting from a rest, while great for making small groups, can change the zero ....yep USGI grip safetys pretty much suck. I like the Ed Brown beaver tail grip safety ( You'll need a commander style hammer also ) |

Off hand it seems to be roughly the same but the group is about 4" I need to work on that. These tiny little "improved" GI sights are not my favorite. I'm in awe of what GIs did with their smaller sights in war. |

I can shoot 2.5" groups from a sandbag at 25 yards with my redhawk so I know its not out of the realm of average shooters to see an inch poi/poa difference. 4" offhand is pretty damn good too with a stock mil spec. fwiw both my mil spec and a stainless loaded champion shot a little low for me |

Ed Brown doesn't agree with the majority of Springfield frames, unless you're looking to do some welding, or don't mind big gaps. http://i.imgur.com/6hYLh7L.jpg http://i.imgur.com/HlXosjk.jpg Not too terrible after welding by my amateur self, a pro could do better, hell I could've. http://i.imgur.com/dGJc0tT.jpg I believe you'll be wanting something in a .220 radius like Smith and Alexander offer to avoid welding. Thank you for the info, I like the idea of the speed bump, but TIG welding my frame isn't something I really want to do... I can do it, but just don't want to I'm lazy. |

I put drop in beaver tail grip safety's on my Argentine 1911's to stop hammer bite and they worked perfect right from the package.
No mods needed to the frame. There are gaps but I don't mind. My hand likes them. I did not want to alter the frames so they were perfect for my needs. Still needed a commander hammer though. If I find the brand name I'll post it. |
