I had the milspec for 13 years, beat the shit out of it, then after the hammer started following I decided it needed to go back for some TLC.

Basically I just needed a 3.5# match trigger job and a repark.

Feels like a brand new gun.  Has a very Professional look to it

They replaced a lot of the internals, fixed a ding on the dustcover where I had dropped the frame, replaced screws/bushings, and threw in a pair of cocobolo grips all on the house.

I was going to get the frontstrap checkered 20 lpi, but by the time I requested that, they said the gun had already been worked on and I'd need to repark it again for another $65.  I decided to opt for grip tape again.  Maybe in another 13 years.

This was my 2nd ever gun purchase and the oldest gun I have in my stable.  This will hopefully stay in the family for a long time.

Springfield Armory rocks!  Big thanks to the ladies and gents in the Custom Shop!

Nice!

I love hearing stories about old 1911s and owners staying true to one.

Springfield has always treated me right whenever I had small problem. How long did the work take?

One of these days mine will need to go back for a tune up as well.

That's a legit Professional you have there, no?

The turnaround was right at 3 weeks, from the time I sent it to it being in my hands again.  That's half the time they originally estimated.

This is definitely my favorite gun.  I just wish I'd have sent it to them sooner for upgrades instead of Bubba ham-handing it myself

Lesson learned.  Springfield definitely takes care of you.

3 weeks isn't bad at all for a little overhaul. Ill keep that in mind for when my pistols need it

Correct.

Its my pride and joy. Carried daily. Taken to pistol classes and competed with.

I really wish I would have kept up on round count. I have no idea how many rounds down the tube. But it rattles when shaken . Bushing and barrel lock up is still tight however

Nice OP looks like a Range Officer now.  I wish my SA 1911's did not have front cocking serrations.

Can you post better pics?

Oldest gun? Ha you must be young ! The oldest gun in my stable was made in 1848. Of the guns I take to the range my oldest that I actually shoot was made in 1885 ( not 1985!) even my primary glock is a gen 2 older than that !

I added the CMC beavertail back in 2005, dremeled the frame with an Ed Brown beavertail jig.

Springfield appears to have smoothed out this job of mine and made it look factory

I did have an 80s Polytech m14 and yugo AK but since sold those.

That's as old as I've ever gotten. Probably blasphemy but M1 Garands have never done anything for me.

My friend's dad found a WWII era 1911a1 out in an old park. He knew what he had, laughed when I offered to buy it.

Nothing looks better than a 1911 with honest wear on it from actual use

Mil Spec is growing on me.  I think it'll make a good partner to my RO.
