I've read that Nighthawk and Wilson at some point stopped making their guns as good as they used to as far as fit and function so they can make them faster to better meet the demand for their product and that their older guns are better than the newer guns.
If that is at some level valid what production years are their best years? Any comments on this? Thank Yous |

So where did you get this info your LGS? Does not seem like a reasonable assumption that 2 of the top tier custom quality 1911 makers would just start making something they are known for at a sub quality to meet production.
Do you have anything to base this statement on.... article, the LGS guy told you while trying to sell a Les Baer or Ed Brown, heard it from your brothers cousins friend who is a member of SEAL team 6 and carried both on the OBL raid, anything? |

It is a known, uncontestable, God's honest truth that all guns built today are not as good as the guns built yesterday. This is due to the manufacturers kowtowing to Wal Mart and their demand for cheap shit. And Obama. Somehow he plays into this as well. Feinstein and Pelosi are behind it .... Biden was the mastermind! |

My 06/2014 Nighthawk Falcon is as well or better built as any semi-custom 1911 I've ever shot or handled. All machined parts no cast or mim forged frame & slide built by "one" gunsmith. All most as accurate as my 1.5" Les Baer PII and better finshing than the Baer but to be fair its $1000 more too. Love my Nighthawk & Baers! |

My AAC Recon was built in very early 2013. It is impeccable in all ways. Flawless fit and function. I think they are a great 1911.....but I only paid $1100 for it. Its not that the pistol is not worth 3400 dollars, but I would not spend the coin. I love 1911s, but that is a ton of cash.

I don't think you can point to a discrete set of years and say definitively that "those are all low quality". You need to judge each gun individually. This is the correct answer. When I worked for a store that stocked all of them I saw poor examples from both. I think that there is no question that when all of these guys started producing hundreds of guns a year(maybe thousands) that QC took a hit. There is a reason the one at a time custom smiths are still able to command a big premium. |

I doubt what you have heard
Recently played with a cqb LE and it was the nicest railed fit finish 1911 I have seen yet - more so than the older rail design Wilson cqb we have ( although that model is top notch) Nighthawk grp's I believe are on par and have increased in quality. I would still prefer the Wilson though Never ceases to amazing me how nighthawk and Wilson can make such fine products that are still not ultra lockup tight but maintain amazing accuracy |

I bought a Nighthawk T3 about a year ago. Had some failure to feed first time at the range. Ended up it was the new mags coming straight out of the package. Problem fixed itself in short order.
The company probably tests their guns with mags on the bench and then puts new mags in the case to ship to the customer. The springs are very stiff and need breaking in. Ready to go about the third time you load the mag. Love this gun. shoots better than I can. fit and finish leaves nothing to be desired. Trigger pull is probably the best of all my 1911's |

My Wilson Combat Protector made me realize all the flaws in my other 1911's that I never realized before.
There is no wiggle/rattle, all edges perfectly line up everywhere, racking the slide is as smooth as butter. I couldn't be happier with it and it was made 11/14, I have no experience with older wilsons so I can't compare but it's impossible for me to find gripes. Actually one gripe, the front sight has sharp edges. I had to mention one thing. |
| I would love to hear where you read this. I actually can't imagine anyone posting that and I can't imagine Wilson or Nighthawk doing these things. Seems pretty strange since I have had a NH Falcon Commander 9mm on order for nearly two years.. that doesn't sound like they have sped anything up to me. I also just received a brand new WC CQB LR and it is put together incredibly well. I have two other Wilsons as well that are amazing 1911s. I would check your source if you even have one. |

Wilson, GI, EB, and SACS make better guns than Nighthawk. care to add any facts, details, or elaborate why? Or are we just bashing to be one of the cool kidsTheir fit and finish is inferior to the others, simple as that. I have representative pistols of those listed brands and the NH trails the other Arkansas gunmakers (WC and GI). Honestly the two best semi customs I have are EB and SACS--they're just damn perfect. |

Ok I guess myself and a couple other people just got lucky when we ordered our inferior Nighthawks. One thing that pushed me towards them is they let me go full custom instead of the semi route. Was able to specify what upgrades I wanted, what parts I wanted and what finish I wanted. Thus was a deciding factor for me over other mentioned brands. GI was not available then, but he makes a very nice clean 1911. Then again they all should, (Arkansas manufacturers) having their roots from bill wilson
