I have a 1911 which uses usgi sights. I am needing to have new sights put on hopefully night sights. Are there any good places to send just the slide and has somewhat quick turnaround.

novak will have them done, and sent back to you faster than anyone else on the market.

I had it shipped to them and it landed on Wed.... Thursday I got a call to confirm what I wanted , Friday I had a tracking number. I sent two slides for work.

Another vote for Novak - I received my slide back exactly one week after I dropped it off at FedEx.

i think they do so many that they have jigs and such set up for quick turn around.  I have never read a negative about Novak sight installs

I sent in a Kimber slide.  In addition to the cost of the night sights, they charged $35 for installation and $20 for S/H.  When I got it back, I was surprised to find that they drilled and pinned the front sight .

Have you thought of going local. Otto Comp or Eric over at Top Gun. I had a 6906 and 6904 that had blade sights and Eric put night sights on both. Even the night sights for those specific weapons didn't fit and had the slide had to be cut. Both turned out great. Otto does excellent work you might have to wait longer. You show Mo. this only makes sense if in the St. Louis area.

Novak and have them dovetail your slide so you can get away from the staked front sight.

Out of curiosity, are you guys sending the whole gun or just the slide?

Whole gun means they can properly align the sights?  But much easier to send a slide in the mail.

I just sent my slide in.  I made any windage adjustments on my own.

My 1911's came cut with dovetails so I just had a local smith push my sights on and I tap with punch at range to drift windage.  Most times I never change them I just know where the pistols hits and know how to line the sights.  My G17 hits left so I just change my sight alignment slightly because the sight change would be so small it is not worth moving.
