Hey guys.
Just ordered an AO 1911PKZE from Buds.
It's my first pistol. Super excited.

Buds only ships new guns and they said these are new manufactured, but I'm concerned because their thumbnail looks like the older, worse version (from I have read) with the more square/wide front straps.

What is a good way to tell that I have one of the new, more reliable ones just from looking at it at the shop when it comes in?

The first pic is what I think the new ones are supposed to look like, and the second is what they used to look like. Am I right?
Thanks!

Says Kahr arms in the description...your good.....AO 1911

"Kahr Arms re-engineered and redesigned the Auto Ordnance 1911 line so each pistol is built to exacting standards using state-of-the-art computerized machinery and verified on high quality inspection equipment. This model is 8.5" long and features original "G.I." detailing right down to the military-style roll stamp, vertical slide serrations, plastic checkered grips and lanyard loop. The rear sight is adjustable for windage. This 1911 is built with a firing pin block in the slide, Series 80 configuration, in addition to a thumb and grip saftey"

I'm pretty sure Kahr made the blockier front strap version too. The rounder version is just the newest version of the Kahr. Or am I wrong?
I didn't think that just because it was Kahr made it was good. I thought the earlier Kahrs were bad as well.

You'll find out when you get it at your FFL.
I don't think they have updated the stock photos for the Dan Wesson line of pistols either, FWIW

That's what I'm asking here. I don't know how to tell when I pick it up at my FFL if it's the right, newest one.

If you pull the UPC off of the buds website it will kick this back as an image....the UPC code is unique to that pistol....Kahr AO 1911

The UPC code is UPC 602686253000

good luck!

Thanks...but I guess I need to rephrase my question.

What do the older AO 1911s that are not good look like, and what do the new ones look like?

I just want to be able to examine the gun at my FFL and know it is a new one (not new old stock).
How do I do that?

Thanks!

The old AOs have a West Hurley NY rollmark and the Kahr made guns are from Worcester MA.

Are there good and bad versions of the Kahr ones though?
I have heard that the early years even after they switched to Kajr weren't that great.

If so, are there any differences that I would be able to notice?

Can't help you there.  I'm sure there are but I couldn't tell you the minutiae.

I had an early Kahr version from the early 2000s and it was unreliable (failure to feed, failure to eject) and it had the angled rear slide serrations. It also had the blocky front strap. I sold it and got an RIA.  That top pic you posted looks amazing though. Good luck and post pics!
