I had mixed feelings about buying one of these but I wanted another host for the suppressor (been shooting 9mm out of a 45acp can for a year).   One popped up on the local trader so I jumped on it.  I must say I have been very impressed with it.  Very tight and solid pistol.   Have not had one problem after 250rds.  Accuracy is not bad at all.   My suppressor fits it very nice.  I have been having fun shooting at an old Point Blank level III-A concealed vest.  The finish was very nice but I can't keep anything stock for long so I Cerakoted it FDE.

The only problem I have had is neither of my weapon lights will fit it.  (TLR-2 and TLR-4). Thinking about getting a Veridian weapon light to see if that works.  I had a Kimber TLE Railed that had a Veridian on it.  Hope it's not an out of spec rail!!!!

Overall I am happy with it...

Well done!  I love the color!  I'm a big suppressor nut and can appreciate the fun of shooting 230gr hardball through a can.  The .45 round is big heavy and slow - with long shots you can hear the round whistling through the air.

I have a Sig TacOps 1911 and run an AAC TiRant .45 can on it.  Love this setup!
Not as pretty as yours though

Love that setup!   Wish I had gone with the TiRant but made a noobie mistake.  Would love to have gone with big name gun, but for $400 I couldn't pass it up.

I had one of the ATI Thunderbolts and loved it! The only reason I sold it was that I picked up an MC Operator that had the same feature set and I had wanted one for a while so the ATI went.

I kind of want one of the "K"s but I know it will lead to a 45 can then

I recently picked up a fde fx-k solely as a suppressor host.  I was a bit skeptical about the pistol to be honest.  It was bought sight unseen nib, and when it picked it up, I thought I had made a mistake.

I've heard and read lots of good stuff for the shooter type pistol. Definitely not a show Stoper, or is going to win beauty contest, but I wanted a tool that will likely be used like the town bicycle, or that girl everyone knew in high school.
Well at first look, you get what you pay , quickly done bad paint job, inside and out... It looks like it was done after parts were already installed.... I had a feeling this was going to be a nightmare. The grips are plastic, what I would call Magpul rip offs... They feel even cheaper.

I did a typical field disassembly. clean and lube then hand cycled everything for about an hour. Once the lube overcame the stickiness of the paint job it didn't seem to bad, everything was tight, and a pretty good fit up. The trigger got less gritty when pulled on snap caps. A second disassembly and a wipe down, showed the tan color of the paint. Relubed and ready to go.

Range day -
It was a beautiful day, and screw it, I drove to Brunswick ga on labor day, finished the job there Tuesday at 7pm and drove to Augusta to work 2 16hr days... I'm taking a day off.... I loaded up the factory mag with what I have the most of, my 230gr hard cast bullets out of an old hg mold. It works fine in all of my 1911s, there is no reason for it not to work in this one.
I drop the slide and.... It doesn't go into battery,   nose jammed on the barrel lip .

I ejected the f-ed up round and it goes straight into battery. The pistol ran the mag without any issue. I throw in a chip Mc cormic and it runs.. Wilson.. Not a issue at all.
I continue for another 5 mags, not a problem.. Actually I shot every bit of the 500 rounds I brought with me without the gun malfunctioning a bit, with 7 different mags from 3 different mfg, 1 factory then 3 chips and 3 Wilson.

The accuracy sucked ass, I shot and shot, at times it would group well, then it was Wtf? Seriously? A whole mag dancing around randomly... I grab my edc kimber and drop 2 mags into the nicely shredded point of aim.
The trigger wasn't bad, but needs work. It was a bit stiff and didn't seem to break clean at times. It wasn't gritty, more of a gummy feeling now and again. Everything else on the gun seemed to work and function well. Everything except accuracy.....
Then out of the blue, I was 3ft left... WTF... A foot right, just Wtf?

Well that explains the accuracy issues.....
</a>" />

Hot, wet and dirty Just the way we like ' em
</a>" />

It was a good day
</a>" />

</a>" />

</a>" />

Edit - pic fail don't know why I can't see them....
The accuracy issue was because the rear sight was loose, the set screw had backed out and the sight drifted almost off the gun... A little loc tight now it's just waiting for the next trip.

The pistol shot 300 Rds of hand loaded, hard cast by hand 230 gr rnl,  100 rds of American Eagle,  and 100 rds of winchester white box without a single failure except the first round.

I'd say that it's a pretty good bang for your buck , it's not pretty, and could use some minor work... But overall... I'm pretty happy with it.

Edit 2 - obviously, pictures are up

Thanks for the reply.  That looks like one fun day at the range with those toys!!!  I held a factory tan one and did not like the finish.  When I got  this one I had plans to Cerakote it myself.  Funny thing about my sight when I went to refinish.  The set screw was so tight that the Allen key stripped it out?  Had to drift the rear sight without removing the screw.  Nothing a heavy punch and an Eastwing hammer couldn't handle.  I plan on replacing the sights anyhow.  I still feel that this is a GREAT buy.

Do you have any problems with rail??  Do weapon lights and lasers fit your??

You mention hot wet and dirty.  I went to the range one day and shot all day.  I got home and my wife started laughing me.  Looked in the mirror and I looked like a raccoon.  So much blowback my face was all black!!  Wouldn't trade that for nothing!

Thanks

I picked up one, but my octane is still in jail.

I've read someone post that the barrel isn't quite long enough to run a can on, but it seems like you guys are having no trouble what so ever.  I think they are a lot of gun for the price I paid.

That has never been a thought.  It threads on this just as it does my Glock 21 with Wolf threaded barrel and anything else I have screwed it on to!

Does yours have any problem with weapon lights on the rail??

Thanks

10-4.  I will take it with me to the gun shop so I can try out some lights before I buy one!

Found a different adapter for the TLR-4.  Works fine but would rather have a TLR-2

The metal lock for the battery door at rear keeps it from mounting flush..
