Other than Colt, which US makers of 1911 pistols use forged frames? I have head that one manufacturer makes some models with forged frames, while other models of their pistols are NOT forged.

Sounds like I'll need to call SA's customer service and ask 'em. Thanks for the help. I don't have anything against Colt pistols...to the contrary, I think Colt makes great pistols. I just want to compare apples to apples when buying a pistol. I have seen posts of users (on this site and m1911.org) that say they called SA CS to confirm that the 'no more Imbel or Brazilian fitting' rumors are true, and SA acknowledged that they were. I sent them an e-mail myself this weekend asking the same question. I am already a fan of SA, if the word is true I guess I'll.. have to buy a new production pistol, lol. I heard it was mid last year that the changes took effect btw. |
| I just got off the phone after calling Springfield Armory's customer service people. I was advised that with the exception of their alloy frames (all serial numbers for alloy frames have the prefix LW before the serial number) all their frames are forged. For those who don't notice the weight difference between the alloy and steel frames, look for the LW before the serial number. |
