Not new to firearms, but new to 1911s.   For a first timer any reason not buy a Springfield Mil Spec instead of a Loaded?

Look at the Ruger as well...

Personal preference.

For a first time buyer, I think most would appreciate the loaded features. Namely novak sights, extended beavertail grip safety and long trigger. That's just me...

features that most 1911 useres want. Upgrading a mil-spec to loadded is not worth the coin when you can purchase it as a loaded for less.

I have both. I like the Loaded for around the house, night sights and all that. But I carry the Mii-spec mainly because of the single sided safety. Don't think you could go wrong with either.

I think youll be happier with the loaded

Really its the sights that make the huge difference for me.

If you have large hands you will definitely appreciate a beavertail safety

I picked up the Loaded today.

I had a loaded and hated it so much I sold it within a week.

Biggest complaints were the nasty sharp grip safety and gigantic gas-pedal style thumb safety.  After looking into what it would cost to replace the grip safety I just sold it and bought a Kimber.

Which part of your grip safety was sharp? The only part on a Springer I've ever been annoyed with was the back edge on a handful of thumb safeties. I'm having trouble picturing where on a grip safety there would be a sharp edge. (Not being sarcastic.)

I would pick the Loaded over the GI all day.

This is what I came to post

Ruger is USA made with many upgrades ( it comes "pre loaded" )

I use a search prior to buying any firearm , Google any make/ model firearm with  "Produced in USA?"
