Dang, here I was thinking the grips looked ok.
Any way to buff out that laser etching on the slide? Nice 1911! Congratulations on making the move. The Kuhnhausen books will take you just about anywhere you'd ever want to go with the 1911. Between Brownell's, Midway, Wilson and EGW you'll never want for parts. Most folks may tell you to shoot it for about 1000 rounds, take it down and polish up the wear marks and you'll be gtg. |

Well, got bored tonight because im having to stay up all night because i work nights.
Torn down the 1911 and removed every piece from the slide, and the frame. everything came off easy. Im glad I did this because there was still some shipping oil in the frame and on some of the parts, i was able to clean everything off. Took maybe 10 minutes to strip it down, 30 mins to do a quick clean, and 15 minutes to put everything back together. I also polished the trigger bow with compound as well. seems a little smoother but very minuet. ETA: Also, you can use casey birchwood aluminumblack and black out that logo |

Glad you are happy with your purchase but get out there and shoot it, too.
Finally got back into the 1911 game Friday and picked up the 5" Tactical and four Wilson Combat mags. Ran like a raped ape, dead on accurate Soon as my 1911 shell for my Old Faithful hybrid comes in I'll be GTG. |

Awesome, thanks. I've heard you can use a cold blue pen as well. I used the cold blue touch up pen on my VZ Tac thingy 10mm with the giant billboard... Covered it up pretty well after four applications over an afternoon. Reoiled it and it looks pretty good... Not gone, but much improved. |

My FFL sold the VZ grips for under $33. Lucky bastard! haha, yup. They were priced in the case at $40. I said: "I want a box of that Blazer .45 ($22.50) and those VZ grips. I have $55 cash - adjust the prices however you want." Done deal ETA: and paying tax is for suckas |

Did RIA finally quit using their "billboard" of a slide logo? I purposely held off on buying because it's so freakin' gaudy imho. The bad thing is that on the Compact Tactical their site shows both styles. I spoke with them on they changed designs. The new models have the small logo at the rear of the slide and polymer grips instead of wood. At least that's on the 1911-A1 CS. Not sure about the other models. Congrats to the OP. I took mine out for the first time last night. So no trouble getting the firing pin out? I can't for the life of me get the stop to budge.

Once I get off my rear and bother to push the sights off, I'll detail strip it and finish it. Thinking burnt bronze slide/frame and matte black tiny parts.
