The only "commander" style 1911 currently produced by SA is the LW Champion Operator with a 4" bull barrel. It would be awesome if they made real, 4.25", bushing barrel commanders. I'd like to see Milspec, Loaded, and TRP versions. Anyone else think SA should make commanders?

I am gonna have a 4" aluminum frame someday.  And it will have a bushing.  Like this, only lighter.

ETA..After looking at this pic, that  45 ACP slide marking really looks like a freakin billboard

Nothing to add other than I have the LW Champion Operator and it is a kick ass 1911!  Haven't had a single problem with it and have shot over 1,000 rounds with it.  I wanted a 'smaller' 1911 for carry and didn't trust the 3" guns out there.  This fit the bill

Their champions sell well so maybe they don't see a need

I like my bushing less champion LW just fine.

The non-bushing springer 4" guns shoot great,  but for me the whole point of an aluminum frame is to save weight.

I think they used to build them with a bushing.
I have a Champion with a bull barrel, and I don't see what a bushing could do better, I can shoot 8rnd + groups smaller than my fist until I get bored at 20yds and take down is a breeze.
I would like to have one with an alloy frame though, but they still make one of those so given enough time and money I'll have one. I do think a mil-spec champion would sell well though, being lower price point.

Yeah the lwco sells so well I don't know why they.would.  They can be tough to find.  I've shot my lwco back to back with a RO and honestly I thought the champion shot a little softer. Accuracy was about equal, the RO was a little better but nothing dramatic.

I wish more manufacturers made proper Commanders.

My LW Commander needs to be retired.

I love the original commander configuration but the new bushingless bull barrels dont bother me. What kind of weight difference are we talking about here?

You could always get it fluted

Some of the earlier Champions did have bushings and there have also been some TRP Champions made. Quack over at the 1911Forum had a TRP Champion.

Found this too:

I wish they would as I'm looking for a commander sized 1911 with a round butt for my next pistol.  Dan Wesson is the only one I'm seriously considering right now but if Springer offered one I'd be all over it.

I don't have much to add other than that.  I do like my Colt Combat Commander though.  Carries so nice!

Ruger makes a really nice Commander version, or CMD.  4.25" 1911.  I'm just patiently waiting for them to release it with a bobtail and I'll buy it.  Not sure if they will but I can hope anyways.

There's no point in a Commander since a 4" bull barrel does the same thing, but a 1/4" shorter.

The extra 1/4" only exists to make room for the bushing that you don't need.

Short guns are short.  Commanders are retarded unless it's a CCO.

I have a CCO and want a standard commander too

I can conceal a cco and regular 1911 5" but the 5" pinches me when I sit down and snags my wallet.

Not a regular commander or CCO
