| The only "commander" style 1911 currently produced by SA is the LW Champion Operator with a 4" bull barrel. It would be awesome if they made real, 4.25", bushing barrel commanders. I'd like to see Milspec, Loaded, and TRP versions. Anyone else think SA should make commanders? |

I think they used to build them with a bushing.
I have a Champion with a bull barrel, and I don't see what a bushing could do better, I can shoot 8rnd + groups smaller than my fist until I get bored at 20yds and take down is a breeze. I would like to have one with an alloy frame though, but they still make one of those so given enough time and money I'll have one. I do think a mil-spec champion would sell well though, being lower price point. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Some of the earlier Champions did have bushings and there have also been some TRP Champions made. Quack over at the 1911Forum had a TRP Champion.
Found this too: http://www.gunsamerica.com/936692164/TRP_Tactical_Champion_4_Rare.htm |

I love the original commander configuration but the new bushingless bull barrels dont bother me. What kind of weight difference are we talking about here? You could always get it fluted http://www.ccgunworks.com/store/shop/images/1076/limited_6_sdc.jpg/ Heerrrrnnnnnnnnggggg, Nice. I don't have much to add other than that. I do like my Colt Combat Commander though. Carries so nice! |

There's no point in a Commander since a 4" bull barrel does the same thing, but a 1/4" shorter. The extra 1/4" only exists to make room for the bushing that you don't need. Short guns are short. Commanders are retarded unless it's a CCO. I have a CCO and want a standard commander too I can conceal a cco and regular 1911 5" but the 5" pinches me when I sit down and snags my wallet. Not a regular commander or CCO |
