Installed a S&A extended magwell and the grip safety sticks?  Where did I screw up?

Grip safety needs to be tuned to the thumb safety. Maybe you got some crap in there.  Swap it back and see what happens.

Wat?  More likely is that the new magwell/mainspring housing is slightly longer than the one you removed.  Measure the old mainspring housing with a set of calipers and then remove material from the new housing until the dimensions match.

this-  if the gun ran fine before you added a new part- its almost always an issue with tolerance stacking.  suspect that your new part needs fitting- never the ones on the gun that ran fine before you messed with it.

Thanks, that's what I figured

How did the thumb safety, which was not changed according to the OP, become the culprit?

More than likely the SA is a bit longer than the stock mainspring housing and is causing the grip safety to bind by rubbing on the top.

I should also mention that it only sticks once the pin is all the way through.  When the pin is half way, it works fine.

REMOVE A LITTLE BIT OF MATERIAL OF THE TOP OF THE MAINSPRING HOUSING.

CAN YOU SEE WHERE IT MAY BE STICKING

How about checking the far right (as looking from  the rear) of your 3 leaf spring and make sure it is pushing with enough force onto the grip safety before you take a file to your gun?  And if you feel the file is the correct tool, use a sharpie to determine where you have to remove metal.

Too, make sure that the safety lever that impinges on the back of the trigger is not binding.  That is usually the culprit with a NEW grip safety.

If it is binding in both directions ( on pressing and on release ) , take a clean, SOFT swipe off of each angle ( one swipe at a time ) with a VERY fine file until it operates freely.  Be VERY judicious...take you r time.

If you remove too much metal...you'll need a new Grip Safety.   If it binds only in the release direction, take a swipe off of tehe bottom angle.  If it is binding only on pressing ( rare..usually you just can't get it installed ) then swipe the TOP angle only.

Let us know how it turns out.  Remember....take your time.  Metal is easy to remove...but it's a bitch to put back on!
