Just got my R.O. through SSE last Friday...finally.  It is now at DROS.  A shooting friend recommended that I shoot at least new 200 rounds before I start using reloads.  Is this correct recommendation?  Any other recommendations or advice for me to properly break them in.  Thanks.

You can use reloads, as long as they are full power and not light target stuff.

When breaking in a new 1911, I just detail strip, clean, inspect, lube with CLP and it's off to desert to shoot.

Mine has never seen factory ammo.

Absolutely no need to detail strip! Field strip lube and inspect is fine. Reloads are fine. The suggestion for factory is if you have any function issues out the gate simply to eliminate ammo as a cause. Whenever someone has an issue with a new gun I always say try factory ammo and a different magazine - 90% solution usually

Then I will use a few rounds of factory to test for functionality.  Then switch to reloads.  Thanks to all.

Does the R.O. also have a 2 pc. guide-rod like other SA 1911s?

You are fine to use reloads. The RO uses a standard GI rod/plug. It is a great gun that you will enjoy.
