It's a little gunshop down the road from me and it's going to be $1459 when it gets here. They said it'll be. Coming from lipseys but no idea how long the wait will be |
| I got a WileyClapp Government off Gunbroker for just shy of $1400 shipped. Great pistol. You will like it. The checkering on the front strap and mainspring housing is outstanding. The only thing I didn't like was the grips, so I put standard bushings on and some walnut, full checkered Herretts. |

You'll be quite happy with it. Of all of the 1911s that I've owned, it is by far and away the best of the bunch. All of the features are just how I'd want one built, other than the minor changes I had done by Alchemy. Just to tease you a little: Before: http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii190/Birddog4570/Dec12055_zps6891289b.jpg After: http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii190/Birddog4570/1911_zps8a8669c8.jpg Now, we expect pics when you get it! Wow, that is a beautifully fit beaver tail safety and front strap checkering. |

Now that is a good looking pistol. It's what the Combat Elite wants to be. Has the frame been hard chromed? It appears to be a nice even finish. |

How does the Wiley Clapp compare to other 1911's in it's class? Is there a popular model that you would say is close to being equal?
I've been looking at different full size 1911's but, honestly, I'm not even close to being able to decide. I have a Wiley Clapp stainless GP100 that I absolutely love and thought a WC 1911 would make a good companion for it. |

Lightweight frame, checkered by Pete Single, with an S&A grip safety, commander hammer... 70 Series... Novak black rear, brass bead front, no front serrations, for roughly $13-1400? I'm not sure that there is anything else in it's class. Maybe Dan Wesson makes something that can compete, but a lightweight Commander is hard to come by without resorting to some fugly Kimber or S&W bullshit that nobody wants... |
