Looking for a compact plus type 1911.... Full size frame and a compact slide. Who makes
One in that configuration??! |

Colt made it years ago (1985) as the "Lieutenant Commander", You can find one on some of the gun auction boards.
Go here: Colt Lieutenant Commander

Quoted:
Are you thinking about commander size (4.25, lots of places) 1911, or something with a 3.5 barrel and fullsize grip (unkown if anything is still made)? Quoted:

The 3" barrel would be the "compact" and in that case, the Kimber mentioned above would fit the requirement. I'm not a fan of this configuration as it has the sometimes problematic 3" barrel and the full size grip which makes it harder to conceal carry. |

I subsequently had Novak's replace the original IWI P-T tritium night sights I had forgot that one! The only issue I have ever had with it, is with the OEM recoil spring plug: I need to get a replacement plug and spring(s) for the Haart's mercury-filled recoil rod that I had put in it, after tearing up a OEM Colt plug's locking tab or two, as well. Sprinco used to make a drop-in recoil spring assembly too, which is what I have in there now: The newer system that Colt is putting in the Defenders and New Agents is much better. |

Quoted: The Grip is the hard part to conceal, so it will not be much easier to carry, and 3" barrels are have a questionable reputation. I agree with above poster that it is potentially the worst of both worlds. Disagree. I'm 5' 7", and 165lbs. I carry IWB with a DeSantis Scorpion, with the pistol sitting just behind the point of my right hip. The pistol grip tucks up tight against my back, behind the kidney. I use the same holster for my New agent and Desert Warrior. What is more obvious, is the length of the barrel: I can sit with a 3" barrel and not notice it. But carrying a 5" barrel will result in the muzzle pressing against the seat surface |
