So the ATF is saying I will finally be able to pick up my Thomson machine isis 2 in February (that is if they don't get shut down again)
I was looking at the typical hosts, h&k, sig, and even thought about a bhp. After thinking it through, I decided I couldn't go wrong with my favorite type of handgun, the 1911 platform. I know not many 1911's come with threaded barrels, even less in 9mm. So I'm going to go with a aftermarket barrel. Any sudgestions on barrel makes is appricated. what base should I start with? I'm hoping for a true commander length 4.25, a aluminum frame would be a huge plus, and a built in rail would be the ultimate option. The length I'm pretty set on, the frame and rail isn't a deal breaker, but would be nice. I've even thought about a add on rail. I live a hour away from novaks in wv, so after I recieve the gun and barrel, I'm going to drive down, beg and plead, for them to do the work. Last time I called they were not taking new work, I guess we will see how it goes. Any other gunsmiths online you sudgest to do the work? I could try to do it my self, I was a machinist for 5 years. But if I can, I would rather pay someone for top notch work! Any help with this problem would be greatly appricated!! If anyone has any 1911's supressed, I would love to see pictures!!!! Thanks in advanced. |

Whats your budget?
And, are you firm on a single stack 1911? http://www.shootersconnectionstore.com/STI-40-Tactical-9x19-Stocked-Item-P976.aspx http://www.shootersconnectionstore.com/STI-50-Tactical-SS-9x19-Night-Sights-Threaded-Barrel-P2851.aspx The above is just some ideas. |

I was looking at the sti tactical 4.0, but I've never been around a 2011. I would say that's the top end of my spectrum. I would like to keep it as cheap as could while not hurting reliability. Out of box accuracy isn't a must have, since I'm planning a barrel swap anyways. I'm even considering a plain jane gi 9mm, then I could form it to my own. I would like to upgrade to some supressor tall sights enventually.
I wish we had a gun rental place locally, I would really like to try the 2011 grip! I know I hate my glock, (but my father bought it for me at 18, so I can't get rid of it) But it might just be the single action trigger that makes a gun for me. Revolvers and 1911's have always been my favorite. I've never seen that second one you posted, it's nice that it's already threaded, good looking pistol. It would run for me right out of the box. |

Sti seems like the 9mm kings, even in single stack they have a bigger selection then other manufactures, I've never owned a sti... Any problems with them? I'm really thinking about the duty one 4" version. I'm really not excited about a plastic grip frame. STI has a great reputation, if you have issues, they will take care of you. Only the double stack guns come with plastic grips. That said, you can get an aftermarket grip that is metal, but it will cost you a could bit of money and will need to be fitted. |
