Has anyone heard any updates about when their polymer 1911 is coming out? It's only a year or two overdue.

If they can't release a product they advertised before the entire world gives up and forgets, piss on 'em.

Why?  There's still Springfield and Wilson who always have and still do build better guns for the money than Rock River ever did...

Not from the Rock Rivers, Springfields and Wilsons I've seen.

I kick myself every day for not buying a RRA 1911. They were incredibly good looking and well built

I have owned two RRA models,.....think Les Baer, but finished much better.

If you owned a Springfield Custom you'd understand.  If you owned a Wilson there'd be no maybe to it.

The Rock Rivers were nice, yeah.  But on the same level as a Sprinfield Pro or a Wilson CQB?

Not a chance.

RRA's Chuck and Mark Larson (RIP) were proteges of Les Baer at the SA Custom shop, and later worked with him when he started his own shop.  Dave Williams and Jason Chambless of SACS are both APG members, for whatever that may be worth.

The guns are all about on the same level in my experience.   There is nothing magical about any of them, not even the Pro, and at the rate that Wilson's guns have increased over the past 10 years, the CQB is no longer worth that kind of premium in my opinion.

The RRAs at least were held to a Baer-like accuracy standard of 1.5" at 50 yards compared to 1.5" at 25 yards for the Pro and CQB (not that most of them probably won't shoot better than that).  The RRA guns tend to mirror Baer's build philosophy and I suspect used at least some Baer parts in them.

IIRC they used Baer frames and slides.

I agree, nothing magic about any of 'em.  I've had the best luck with Wilson and Springfield Custom.

I'm seriously considering buying another Rock River just to see if I get a good one and maybe I'll understand the hoopla.  I had a Basic Carry back when they still built 'em.

I think it was about $1600.

It had a tritium front, Novak rear, Ed Brown thumb safety, Wilson grip safety, 25LPI checkering, parkerized.

I opened the box, pulled it out all excited and saw what looked like an old made in Brazil Springfield Loaded.  There was nothing on it that wasn't butchered to some degree.

It shot great, but looked like shit, worse than an ugly Baer and I've some gems...

I've been around quite a few Wilsons and to a lesser extent Springfield Pros and Custom Carrys and their quality and performance is ALWAYS very high.
